10 Dec New Jersey Safety Along Railroads: Short-Term Action Plan
This quick turnaround initiative was conducted for NJ Transit and NJDOT in response to deaths and injuries at NJ’s railroad crossings, particularly recent trail trespass fatalities. As a subconsultant to the RBA Group, Dr. Blickstein designed and facilitated a one-day workshop in November 2011 to engage representatives from NJDOT, NJ Transit, NJDHTS, NJDSS, NJ State Police, FHWA, NHTSA, NJDOE, VTC, and TMAs in brainstorming short-term engineering, education, and enforcement actions to address safety along NJ’s railroads. Based on the input from this workshop, SGB also prepared the draft action plan that was a key component of the Final Report.
